Big Savings, Less Waste—Grocery Shopping That Feels Good!

With many individuals now prioritizing their overall health and wellness coupled with growing concerns about food waste, the demand for healthier food options has grown significantly. However, not everyone has that budget for high-priced organic options or products made with natural ingredients.

Aiming to address the rising demands for healthier food options that don’t break the bank, Martie is an online discount store that offers heavily discounted items, including healthy snacks, wellness products, and more. The brand is proud to have offered more than 11000 products on its site since its inception 3 years ago, such as Catalina Crunch, KOS, La Colombe, Mrs Meyers and more, always at the best possible price online.

From Idea to Reality

Martie was co-founded by CEO Louise Fritjofsson and Kari Morris, who were inspired to make healthy, great food more accessible while fighting food waste. Tackling food waste and food insecurity, the co-founders created a new business model guided by the commitment to reduce the amount perfectly fine foods in landfills and positively impact others’ lives. Martie is about saving money and helping the planet.

“I want to build the IKEA of food,” Fritjofsson said, referencing the Swedish housewares store known for selling low-priced furniture that customers can assemble. Stating that IKEA is a model for her grocery business due to its affordability and having customers who are proud to shop there, the CEO said about Martie: “It’s a treasure hunt; you go in for one thing and leave with 20.”

Since launching in late 2021 and nationwide in October 2023, this online store has saved shoppers over $15 million. Martie operates by buying overstocked food products from manufacturers and then selling them at discounted rates to consumers—offering food options that are up to 70% off. The company works with top brands and producers, shopping their ever-changing supply of surplus goods for shoppers.

Martie: What Treasures You’ll Find and How It Works

Martie gives every person nationwide access to surplus items at a discounted rate, including specialty and premium items. Martie only offers packaged goods—no produce or perishables—and other household essentials and goods, like laundry detergent and beauty products.

Fritjofsson stated that about half of the products available on the website are overproduced by manufacturers, meaning they are making more than they can sell, which would lead to potential losses for the companies. While Martie operates by buying these products before they can no longer sell, effectively reducing food waste, this means that many items may be available only during certain seasons (think Valentine’s Day chocolates). Some products may be nearing their sell-by-date.

Shoppers can enjoy healthier food options on a budget, with orders shipped directly to their door.

Additionally, Martie is not subscription-based, meaning there are no upfront commitments. Martie shoppers save an average of $54 per order or $600 per year, and 47% of the company’s shoppers are returning month over month.

Save on Your Favorite Brands

Offering some top brands, like Hum Nutrition, Clif Bars, and Orgain, Martie promises excellent savings and a well-stocked online site with the essentials you know and need. Martie shoppers not only save loads of money on their favorite brands but are effectively helping the planet by preventing delicious food from going to waste.

Having already saved more than five million pounds of food from heading to the landfill and saving shoppers money, Martie is a fun online shopping experience with some nice bonuses.  Grocery Shopping That Feels Good
